This highly interactive course is designed for Hospital First Receivers or industrial first responder teams. This program meets the requirement for OSHA CFR 1910.120. JCAHO refers to this standard when assessing the training and readiness of emergency department personnel to respond to Haz Mat incidents. We customize this training to meet the needs of your facility.
Topics covered include: - Emergency management principles in a Haz Mat situation - Hazardous Materials principles and terminology - Recognition of hazardous agents and their symptoms - Treatment of patients exposed to hazardous agents - Principles of decontamination - Proper use of personal protective equipment - Decon setup and procedures - Respiratory considerations - Monitoring devices
Students will actively participate in donning and doffing personal protective equipment, decon set up and monitoring device practice.
Depending upon whether you need the initial training course (8 hours) or the annual refresher course (4 hours), we can customize the material to your facility, equipment, and personnel level of training.
